We had a great time at la maison du murier. I have to say the location is idyllic. Thirty minutes from the beach yet the house is in a typical French village surrounded by vineyards. We visited Gruissan beach which was very nice but found (through google) Franqui beach much better. It's used a lot by kite surfers and we found less busy.
We were also fortunate enough to be present for the annual Raissac village party, what a fantastic experience, the food, wine & hospitality were outstanding.
On arriving at the house we found Giselle vey helpful & reassuring to know she's only next door if any problems should arise...
...On the whole we found the house very comfortable, providing everything a family needs for a great holiday.

Thankyou

Lisa Langton

Ps

I wrote a couple of restaurant recommendations in the guest book & left melo velo leaflets in the house, that we used for bike hire, hope thats ok?

Merci beaucoup.

Hi Brian and Pauline,

like I promised you a little bit more details and a short feedback to our holiday in la maison du murier.

We really enjoyed our stay especially the nice evenings when you can watch the bats, moths and geckos. The old Cathar castles Perypertuse and Queribus were very impressive and we could spend a nice afternoon in Carcassone, which was not so crowded in the last week of August.

Swimming in Leucate, Gruissan, Narbonne Plage and at a small beach surrounded by cliffs and Rocks near the Spain border was a lot of fun for the whole family. A visit in Lagrasse was like traveling back in time and we enjoyed the special and calm atmosphere that is totally different to Carcassone with much more visitors. Bathing in the Orbieu river besides the Abbaye was perfect.

Your advice to visit the theatre in Orange was very good. It is really impressive. Driving back we visited Arles and Pont du Gard that is built without any mortar betwen the stones. The clear and green shimmering river below is perfect for a refreshment in spectacular scenery.

Please send my thanks to Madame Pardine for the welcome package. Unfortunately we had never the chance to meet her. When we arrived there was no one at home but she left the house open and the key on the desk together with a botle of wine, peaches and a baguette. When we left we only could only handle the key to her husband.

I hope we left everything to your satisfaction. The apple juice in the fridge was already there and we did no know the origin. We bought the two pizzas in the fridge at the first day and realized to late that we can not use them. I do not like to throw away food so we left them in the hope that you know someone who likes them. I hope you do not feel annoyed by our decision.

If there is anything left we need to discuss please let me know.

Once again thanks for the chance on a beautiful holiday. We liked the village and la maison du murier very much and if it is ok for you we would like to spent a second holiday in the next years.

Best regards

Martin and family

Hi Brian

It's the end of our first week back now, but I wanted to get in touch to say how much we enjoyed our stay at La Maison du Murier. The house itself was perfect, the village felt like a week-long Sunday evening and the surrounding area was interesting enough to keep us occupied, but relaxing enough for us to unwind into holiday mode straight away.

We enjoyed the beach for a couple of days, although the wind fought us into submission once, and we discovered the towns of Beziers and Narbonne, plus the villages further down the coast. Most memorable of all was the shade of the canal du midi.

Later in the week we met up with some family members for a hectic week in Provence, but the relaxing introduction to our holiday at your house was just what we needed, so

Thanks again,

Paul

Hi Brian,
What a great place to spend time, we enjoyed every minute of our stay, riding in the mountains, down to the coast, exploring the canal or just lazing around reading books.I doubt that anything could be improved on.In fact we liked it so much we'd like to book 04.07.09 to18.07.09 if possible..

Regards.

Just a line to say we had a wonderful holiday in Raissac and are all a bit sorry to be back (especially to the horrible weather we had today).  Your house was everything we had hoped it would be, in a perfect location.  We had absolutely no problems at all, and I didn't even prang the hire car, which was a huge relief!  Gisele was very friendly and helpful and having her shop across the road was extremely convenient.  Thank you for the wine, fruit and other supplies you left us which were much appreciated.  I think we've replaced everything we used (except the fresh things, of course) and we've also left you a couple of buckets and spades and a basketball which we couldn't bring back - but please feel free to get rid of them if you like!

We fully intended to write a page for your visitors' book, but unfortunately didn't leave ourselves enough time on the last day, so Alan has said he will email you something about our discoveries and experiences so that you can print it off.  Thank you for a lovely holiday, one that we will look back on with very fond memories.

Kind regards

Claire

Kath and Brendan were guests in July 2016. These are extracts from a very long e mail.

.......As far as the house goes, I don't think that you could do much more ........ Loved the bedding cupboard and that there were loads of towels and linen so we could wash and use. Also that there were detergents etc. plus condiments. Giselle was delightful and very helpful. We were so touched that she drove with us to the restaurant when we first arrived as I know that in parts of France it can be difficult to book a table on Sunday afternoon/evening.

I think that's all. We had a lovely time and have already recommended your spot to friends.

..........but I keep saying to people when I show them our holiday pics that your place enabled me to relax and be calm and that I sensed this even before we arrived. So good luck with your future lettings, your website is excellent.

Just a quick word to say thank you very much for providing such a lovely house for our holiday, we really enjoyed everything the village, house, patio, surroundings and being in that part of France not too far from the beach, we swam in the Med at least 5 times, weather ranged from almost 30 down to 20 so just nice really. On the cooler days we managed to walk the Canal du Midi.

We put the sun loungers by the stairs with the other padded ones, they were very comfortable. Read loads of your books, that was a really nice surprise. Thanks for letting for letting Clive's sister stay over, they enjoyed that part of France as well, took 5 litres of wine from Ventanac back with them. Thank you for the welcome pack as well, we would not have stopped off for lunch if we had known
